there were three deposits totaling $70, to give an ending balance of $2, 057.74.
Old Business
DEP Growing Greener Support Grant:
Carl Miller updated the group on 501c3 paperwork. A separate meeting will have
to be arranged for the Board members. He also noted that a copy of the
Envirothon sponsorship request letter should be filed to account for expenses
paid. (Cathy will get another copy from Stephanie at the Conservation District)
Cathy passed around a ‘final’ copy of the new brochure for approval. A motion
for printing was made and approved by the membership (Wayne Petro 1st/ Carl
Miller 2nd)
Brochures will be printed at SEDA-COG in Lewisburg.
Coldwater Heritage Partnership – Coldwater Conservation Plan Grant:
Cathy will work on summarizing results and present them at a public meeting in
early May. At the meeting, the attendees will offer their suggestions for ways to
improve instream habitat and water quality in the valley.
T-shirts: Bob will check on printing cost with his new employer.
Adopt – A – Stream: Bob thought this might be a good idea to do for the Weiser State
Forest area because the group has an annual clean-up there anyway. He asked if
someone else from the association would be the contact person for this program
because he is directly involved with the organization that runs it. There were no
volunteers.
New Business
A member asked about environmental impacts of poultry and hog barns that are
becoming more prevalent in the watershed. Cathy explained the erosion and
sedimentation control and nutrient management plan requirements for these facilities.
Residents are always welcome to call the Conservation District if they have questions
or concerns.
PFBC, Todd Rush, and Cathy Haffner assessed a stream bank erosion site near
Queen’s City on Joe Polakowski’s property. Fish habitat structures will likely be
installed sometime this year. Cathy asked if the group would help with the labor for
this project. All agreed.
Daniel Brassington announced that he will coordinate a clean-up along Mugser Run
this summer and will keep everyone posted.
For the good of the order
South Branch Roaring Creek will be on Outdoor Life this weekend. PFBC was sampling
the fish in the creek.
