ROARINGCREEKVALLEY CONSERVATION ASSOCIATION

Minutes of March 19, 2009 Monthly Meeting

 

President Wayne Petro called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.  The meeting was held at the Southern High School in Room 102.

The Secretary’s report was approved as read.

Treasurer Vickie Zackowski provided the Treasurer’s report, showing the balance on hand to be $2555.52. The report was filed for audit.

Committee Reports:

A report from the sign committee meeting held on February 26, 2009 report was given.  The report is attached to the March Minutes.

A report from the sign committee meeting held on March 19, 2009 (prior to the Association’s regular monthly meeting) was given.  This report is attached to the March Minutes.

Mark Diebler showed computer images of possible designs of the watershed boundary signs.

The sign committee made a motion to proceed with the Roaring Creek boundary signage project at a cost not to exceed $2000.  The motion passed.

Sam Scicchitano, Chairman of the Mt. Carmel Township Board of Supervisors, presented a letter of support to the RCVCA boundary signage project.

 

Old Business:

Dan Brassington reported that the logbook boxes should be ready to be erected in about two weeks.

The membership was asked if anyone desired to have a hard copy of the finalized Coldwater Conservation Plan. No one requested a hard copy.  It was suggested that a CD could contain this document for interested parties.

Articles for the spring newsletter can be provided to Kristen Vitkauskas.

 

New Business:

A motion to donate $100 to be listed as a sponsor of the Susquehanna Valley Envirothon was made by David Prescott.  The motion passesd.

The group decided to host a litter clean-up in conjunction with the annual Pennsylvania Clean-up.  Participants will meet along the Route 42 gate of the WeiserStateForest on Sunday, April 26 at 9:00 am.

More information on participation in the bacteria monitoring project will be forthcoming from Wayne Petro.

Dan Brassington provided some preliminary information on walk / run event to be held on the WeiserStateForest trail on Sunday, August 23.  The Susquehanna Valley Roadrunners Club will assist in hosting this event to benefit the Association.

A stipend to be provided to Association speakers was discussed.  David Prescott made a motion to reimburse speakers at the current IRS reimbursement rate up to a maximum of $25.  The motion passed.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm.
