Meeting Minutes: January 18, 2007
7 PM Southern Columbia High School–Room 102

Attendance: Kristen Vitkauskas; Wayne Petro; Cathy Haffner; Carl Miller;

*NOTE* Due to prior commitments, President Bob Rush was unable to attend meeting.
I. Call to order/Kristen Vitkauskas.

II. Meeting minutes from December meeting/Tom Spock.
III. Old Business.
IV. Treasurer’s Report.
Wayne P. Noted ending balance of $1291.74; new life-time member Wayne Kashner.
A. Lower North Branch Forum.
Cathy noted the event will be held 2-12-07 (weather permitting) and give
area watershed groups the opportunity to mingle. Location will be Ag
Center on Sawmill Rd., outside of Bloomsburg. RCVCA members welcome.
B. Coldwater Heritage Partnership Grant.
Cathy noted word should be received regarding the grant by early February.
C. Growing Greener Grant.
Cathy noted grant was submitted, word regarding approval should be received
by early May.
D. Membership/dues.
Wayne P. discussed the possibility of having yearly membership (due in January)
of each calendar year, as opposed to anniversary date of month each individual
joins the association. Also discussed, various membership rates. The topic will
be re-visited, voted at future meeting.
E. Early Bird Sports Expo.
Kristen noted that volunteer schedule has been set; anyone wishing to be present
at booth should let her know so passes could be made available at admission gate.
IV. New Business.
A. Storm Water Abatement Program.
Mike Yeager, Chairman of Facilities Committee/School Board Member
of Southern Area School District, introduced the topic. Mike noted the SCA school
district would like develop a program to control water run-off on school property.
The district would like to have final approval of any plan, utilizing the input of
RCVCA, various professionals from local universities, as well as staff from the
Columbia County Conservation District. Mike added the District would like to
give students at Southern Columbia the opportunity to get involved with the
project .
B. ‘Community Day’ at Weiser State Forest/Roaring Creek Tract.
Mark introduced the topic. He noted DCNR has received many requests from
general public about facilitating trip within the state forest lands. All present
discussed possibility of coordinating an event (RCVCA + DCNR) to give people
not able to walk within tract the opportunity to spend a day on grounds. The
matter will be discussed at upcoming meetings.
C. 501 c3 application.
Application for 501c3 status discussed. Cathy noted the form can be filled
out on-line. Carl agreed to complete the form/will contact others as needed.
Kristen called for motion to adjourn meeting; 1st by Tom; 2nd by Winnie. Kristen
adjourned the meeting. Next meeting to be held February 15, 2007 at 7 PM.
