Minutes of December 12, 2007 meeting

Meeting was called to order by Bob Rush.

 

November meeting minutes read. One minor correction was noted under other business.

 

Wayne Petro presented the Treasurer’s report.  The checking account balance is $1,817.74. Wayne also noted that the 2007 audit was completed with the exception of the December transactions.

 

Old Business

DEP Growing Greener Grant:

  • Cathy provided updates on the brochure.  The graphic designer has the draft brochure almost complete.
  • An association newsletter was discussed briefly. This is a grant deliverable and must be done before the grant ends in 2009.
  • Shirts:  Bob will have shirt prices by the January meeting.

     

    Watershed signs: Bob has been in contact with Penn DOT and Senator Gordner. Penn DOT will still not allow the signs to be erected in their right of way. 

     

    An Association slogan was briefly discussed. Blair and Mary Carbaugh suggested: “Quality water, quality life”

     

    New Business

    Updated version of the Association bylaws was reviewed.    The updated bylaws were voted on and approved (Steve Rier 1st/ Mark Diebler 2nd)

     

    Election of officers was conducted.  There were no new nominations.  Bob Rush was elected President, Kristen Vitkauskas was elected Vice-President, and Wayne Kashner was elected Secretary.   Wayne Petro’s term does not expire until Dec. 2008, so he remains Treasurer for 08.

     

    Announcements/Other

    Wayne Petro announced a meeting about forming a group to preserve historic buildings in Central PA. The meeting will be held Jan. 10 at the Catawissa Bureau Hall at 7 pm

     

    Bob Rush updated the group on his illegal dump-site clean-ups with PA Cleanways

     

    A concern about future logging on steep slopes near Knoebel’s was expressed. We discussed the erosion and sedimentation control requirements for logging operations.
