Meeting minutes: April 20, 2006

7 PM/Southern Columbia High School–Room 102

Attendance: Bob Rush; Kristen Vitkauskas; Cathy Haffner; Mark Deibler; Dave Ernest; David Cooper; Robert Martynowich; Mary Bierly; Mary Ellen Beaver; Winnie and Joe McNelis; Art and Clare McMahon; Tom Spock.

Minutes:

A. Reading and approval of last meeting’s minutes.

B. Treasurer’s report–e-mailed to Bob from Carl Miller (not available for mtg.).

    1. Bob identified number of new memberships received by association.
    2. Detailed available balance in treasury.
    3. Noted recent donations from both First Columbia and Union National Banks, (to be used for upcoming clean-up supplies/refreshments, etc.,).

C. Stream clean-up to be held April 22, 2006.

    1. Bob noted that event will be held rain or shine/meet at Rte. 54 parking lot/9 AM; Goals and objectives according to degree of need after assessing situation.
    2. Kristen noted that she and Wayne Petro had previously mapped out possible areas, added that all who participate could enter to win prizes courtesy of ‘Great PA Clean-up’.

D. Update/Status of logo design.

    1. Bob introduced the subject/Cathy further explained development continues.
    There are some drafts/actual ‘working examples’ of the designs to be available in about two weeks.

E. New Business

    1. Bob noted possible photo project–work w/Wayne Petro and historical society to document/identify past and current images of areas within the Watershed.
    2. Cathy identifies continuing to write for available grants, added that all present are encouraged to contact local elected officials and ask them to NOT support taking money from Growing Greener I and moving the money to Growing Greener II.
    3. Winnie and Joe McNelis inquired about the old ‘Roaring Creek Water Company’ Sign. Mark Deibler noted the sign is now in the DCNR office.
    4. Kristen noted she will be taking students on ‘Watershed Tour’ this coming Monday, If anyone present would like to participate, to meet at SCA 8 AM..

F. Presentation: Catherine Haffner–Master Well Owner Network Volunteer.

    1. Cathy’s topic described “Private Water System Health: What you should know to ensure safe drinking water from your well, spring, or cistern”.

G. Next meeting to be held May 18, 2006 at 7 PM.

Bob asked for motion to call meeting to end. Mark gave motion, Kristen gave second to the motion/meeting was adjourned.
