Roaring Creek Conservation Association Meeting minutes: April 19, 2007
7 PM Southern Columbia High School–Room 102

Attendance: Bob Rush; Wayne Petro; Kristen Vitkauskas; Mark Deibler;
Wayne Kashner; Dave Ernest; Tom Spock.

I. Call to order/Bob Rush.

II. Reading of meeting minutes from March meeting–Tom Spock.

III. Treasurer’s Report–Wayne Petro.
Wayne described current membership totals/ending balance of $1441.74.

IV. Old Business

A. By-law adjustments. All present discussed Pro-rating fees for new
members on quarterly basis–renewals to be made on anniversary
date after that time. Also, to further clarify Article 4/Section 4 of
By-laws, “An annual meeting will be held in the last quarter of the year”.
All present discussed more specifically identifying responsibilities of officers.

B. Long-term meeting plan.
All present discussed meeting plans for future. Members identified a
number of potential speakers. Officers and members will contact, attempt
to schedule presenters for remaining 2007 meetings.

C. Stormwater Project.
Bob and Kristen gave updates on Stormwater Project from Jan/March
meetings. Good first project consideration is ‘Rain garden’ to be constructed
on school grounds, possibly at entrance to Elementary School. Also, project
to correct drainage problem at swale that runs parallel to parking lot near
football field. Possible funding available via Columbia County Conservation
District, among other sources.

D. Coldwater Heritage Grant.
Bob introduced the topic/read letters prepared by Catherine Haffner.
Documents identify objectives and Grant summaries. Bob called for
motion to accept summary documents for grants. 1st by Kristen;
2nd by Wayne K..

E. Cleanup. To be held April 22, 2007 @ 9 AM. Those attending are asked to
meet at Rte. 42 entrance of local State Forest land. Refreshments, snacks
and transportation will be provided.

V. Other/New Business

A. Logo design/related materials. Bob noted that it’s expected logo will be
available for business cards, stationary, envelopes. Also, logo can be used
for Association brochure/newsletter. Layout/frequency of publication for
brochure to be discussed at future meetings.

B. Wayne K. asked about possibility of placing signs along Rte’s 42 & 54
indicating arrival in Roaring Creek Watershed. Also, members present
discussed possibility of informational kiosks at parking lots of Weiser
State Forest Land parking areas.

C. Bob asked all present to consider possible ways to bolster membership
for Association.

Bob called for motion to adjourn meeting. 1st by Wayne K.; 2nd by Kristen.
Next meeting to be held May 17, 2007/7 PM at Southern Columbia HS–Room 102.
