ROARING CREEK VALLEY CONSERVATION ASSOCIATION

 

Minutes of April 17, 2008 Monthly Meeting

 

The meeting was called to order by Kristen Vitkauskas.

 

The March meeting minutes were approved as read. Motion to accept by Mary Beaver, 2nd by Dan Brassington.

 

The Treasurer’s Report was given by Wayne Petro. Motion to accept by Mark Deibler, 2nd by David Prescott.

 

Kristen Vitkauskas announced that Vickie Zachowski will be the Association’s contact person for the Adopt-A-Stream program.

 

The placement of the RCVCA logo and the slogan, ‘Quality Water, Quality Life’ on T-shirts was discussed.  The embroidered shirts will also me made available to order in the future.

 

1000 brochures have been printed and are available for distribution. Members are welcome to take some and distribute as they see fit. Suggestions were made to make them available at markets, campgrounds and post on bulletin boards at local businesses within the watershed. It was also suggested that the brochures could be mailed to property owners who permitted the RCVCA access for the stream assessments.

 

A decision was reached to meet at the Route 42 parking area at 6:00 pm for the May 15 RCVCA meeting.

 

Our spring clean-up will take place at the Route 42 gate on Sunday, May 18.  Time is to be determined.

 

Kristen Vitkauskas will be taking her class on a watershed tour on Wednesday, May 21 beginning at 8:00 am. Members are welcome to attend.

 

A draft of the RCVCA spring newsletter was distributed and reviewed. The members are asked to critique the newsletter and provide feedback to Kristen.

 

Dan Brassington announced a highway clean-up will be conducted on Sunday, April 20 beginning at 8:00 am beginning near Catawissa and going to Rupert.
