Minutes of April 16, 2009 Monthly Meeting
Vice President Kristen Vitkauskas called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. The meeting was held at the Southern High School in Room 102.
The normal order of business was suspended in order that our guest speaker, Angela Bransteitter, could be heard.
Angela Bransteitter, Water Pollution Biologist from the Pennsylvannia DEP, provided the group with information on the Citizen Volunteer Monitoring Bacteria Sampling Procedure. This is the second year for this project. Of the 86,000 miles of streams in the state, 900+ are currently being monitored under this program.
The Secretary’s report was approved as read.
The Treasurer’s report, provided by Vickie Zackowski, showed a balanced of $2495.52.
Unfinished Business:
Dan Brassington, in abstentia, sent word that he will have more T-shirt information in May and the state forest trail logbook project is progressing.
The Signage Committee meeting report was read.
The audit report for fiscal year 2008 was read.
Kristen Vitkauskas reviewed the Association’s 2009 newsletter and will be providing it on-line for editing.
Spring clean-up is still on tap for April 26th at 9:00 am at the WeiserStateForest. David Prescott made a motion for the Association to provide water and snacks to the project participants at a cost not to exceed $30. The motion passed.
Treasurer Vickie Zackowski noted that she has been reviewing the membership roles and has noted some discrepancies. Cathy Haffner and Kristen Vitkauskas will provide some information to assist in resolving the differences.
Mark Deibler, boundary sign project co-leader, showed the group some images of the proposed boundary signs.
New Business:
Kristen Vitkauskas provided some written communications from other conservation groups.
A motion to participate in the bacteria monitoring project was made by Mark Deibler. The motion passed. Kristen Vitkauskas will contact Angela Bransteitter, to inform her of the group’s decision.
Motion to adjourn was made by Mike Zackowski at 8:55 pm.
